Air Conditioning Service & Repairs

A working air-conditioning system isn’t just about comfort — it’s also about clear demisting, driver alertness, and healthy airflow.

I’m Terry Hart, Owner & Senior Technician at Bay European. I service and repair air-conditioning systems with a diagnostic-first approach — finding the real cause of poor cooling, smells, weak airflow, or demister issues, and fixing it properly.

Keep your cabin comfortable and your demister effective

If your A/C isn’t performing like it should, I can help with:

  • System inspection and performance testing
  • Leak checks and fault diagnosis
  • A/C servicing and regas (where required)
  • Component repairs (hoses, seals, compressors, condensers, etc.)
  • Heating and demister performance issues

Cabin Filter Replacement

Your cabin (pollen) filter plays a big part in airflow quality and A/C performance. Over time it can clog with dust, pollen and debris, reducing airflow and making the system work harder than it needs to.

I can check and replace the cabin filter with the correct fit and specification for your vehicle, helping the system breathe properly again.

Signs your A/C system needs attention

Book an inspection if you notice any of the following:

  • The air is only slightly cooler than outside
  • Musty, damp or mouldy smells when the system runs
  • Poor demisting or slow defrosting
  • Weak airflow even on a high fan setting
  • A/C works while driving but fades at idle or when stopped
  • A/C blows warm air, or the heater struggles to produce proper heat
  • Intermittent performance (works sometimes, then doesn’t)

If you want your air-conditioning checked, give me a call. I’ll tell you what I find, what it will take to fix, and what’s worth doing — clearly and without guesswork.

Cabin (Pollen) Filter & Air Quality

Your cabin (pollen) filter helps keep the air inside your car cleaner by trapping dust, pollen and fine debris. When it becomes clogged, airflow drops and your heating/air-conditioning system has to work harder than it should.

If you’re noticing weak airflow or persistent dust/musty smells, I can inspect and replace the cabin filter with the correct specification for your vehicle.

Musty smells and “dirty A/C” odours

A damp or musty smell is often caused by bacteria and mould building up on the evaporator and inside the ventilation system—especially in humid conditions or when the system hasn’t been used correctly.

If your vehicle has an unpleasant odour, I can carry out an air-con sanitise treatment to reduce odour-causing build-up and help the system smell fresh again.

Top Tips For A Super-hot Day

  • Put the switch on your AC/heater to ‘recirculate’. That way, the AC system is cooling the air down inside the car rather than bringing in fresh, warm air from outside. A bit like closing the fridge door.
  • Also, to freshen up the air, wind down a couple of your windows for a few seconds then wind them up again.
  • You can also turn on the ‘recirculate’ button to keep the fumes out when you’re in heavy traffic.

Continuing to run the A/C when something isn’t right can turn a small issue into an expensive one. If the system is low on refrigerant or there’s a fault causing abnormal pressures, it can put extra load on the compressor—the component that circulates refrigerant through the system to create cooling.

Because air-conditioning systems have multiple components and failure points, the smartest move is proper diagnosis, not guesswork. I use the right tools and a methodical process to find the cause, explain your options clearly, and repair it properly—so you’re not wasting money chasing symptoms.
